Aloha Mike,

I have had problems similar to this and have had several issues on
different boxes.Sounds like hardware.

If you have swapped everything out including the source try a boot only
disk and get the install files from the FreeBSD server.

Is the CDrom you are installing from one that has all the components on
it for an install? Has it ( or the files on it) been used before
anywhere for a successfull install?

What about the HD you are trying to use is it ok?
Did you swap it too?

What was the same about the failed installs? Any common denominator?

One of our Admins had a bad HD do this recently it too was a SATA drive
200 GB. The CD installed on other boxes but not the one with the SATA.

I have three versions of FreeBSD 6. * on three boxes here with no
install trouble. 6.0 Release among them. And just today tried 6.1 RC and
it is fine. Used a disc1 copy I burned from the server.

Wish you luck....
